The Smoky Mountains

Monday, June 24, 2019

After spending a few days in Nashville, we headed down toward Smoky Mountain National Park. Despite the rain and cloudy weather, we loved spending time in the actual park. We drove through the different scenic routes, hiked Laurel Falls (early enough to avoid the crazy crowds), visited the Ghost Town of Elkmont, and simply drove through the mountains and stopped any time we saw something beautiful. We stayed in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee which was a huge mistake. It was the tackiest town I had ever seen and was definitely geared towards middle-class families on vacation. If I were to visit again, I think I would actually camp up into the mountains and enjoy nature and hiking more. I hope to visit again sometime with Brandon.
